Norman Agatep

At age 5, after convincing his mother to enroll him in piano classes, Norman began his lifelong journey into music. He was 11 and studying to play the electronic organ when he became the national Grand Prix winner of the Yamaha Electone Festival (Junior Category). He went on to bag the national and Southeast Asian Grand Prix (Senior Category) of the same festival when he was 17.

He decided, however, to pursue other interests in college, and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree major in Business Management and Bachelor of Arts degree major in Communication Arts, both from the Ateneo de Manila University.

It was in college when he and childhood friends Manoling Francisco and Jandi Arboleda founded the Bukas Palad Music Ministry--a group that writes, records, and performs original Filipino liturgical and inspirational songs. Some of the group’s works include Hindi Kita Malilimutan, Tanging Yaman, Sa ‘Yo Lamang, I Will Sing Forever, and Anima Christi.

Close to 27 years and 17 albums later, and a few awards to its name, Bukas Palad continues to sing for the Lord across the country and around the world with Filipino communities that seek to express their faith through prayerful song.

When Norman is not busy writing, arranging, and producing songs for Bukas Palad, he works as Managing Director and Chief Creative Officer of global advertising agency, Havas Worldwide.
